Hi my name is Alison Parry and I am a contemporary fine artist based in Oxfordshire. Welcome to my website!

The central focus of my artwork is memories. By exploring a variety of mediums and techniques, such as paint, print, sound and video, I portray my concept in many different ways.

I always use distorted text in my work, whether it be written or spoken. I use the text alongside the medium to push the concept in realms unknown to me.

I hope you enjoy viewing my work - for further information please contact me

Landscape in Mind

My new work was exhibited recently in 'Landscape in Mind', a group exhibition of 3 contemporary artists, as part of oxfordshire artweeks.

I produced a series of 16 photographs based on childhood memories of one particular place i used to visit as a child, Chiltern Sculpture Trail. Each piece is made up of at least 4 layers, with text and image. I have built all the layers up by hand, writing and drawing on top of photographs, on the negatives and maps of the place. Each piece is then scanned and printed as a digital image.

I am currently exhibiting two pieces at Creative Art Gallery in Woodstock, 'A Long December' and 'Time and Time Again' from my 'Lyrics' series. This series of mixed media paintings used music and songs as inspiration. I have associated memories with the lyrics. Each painting has the entire song written in it within many hidden layers.

"And it's been a long December and there's reason to believe , Maybe this year will be better than the last
I can't remember all the times I tried to tell my myself, To hold on to these moments as they pass"
